Rire 2 Ride - Arrived...
|
Arrived safely, but wet last night. Caught rain in the better section of highway 99 above Pemberton. Saw a big moose on the North Cascade Highway... Overall traffic was mostly light, and the speeds were elevated...
Hitting the bike park tomorrow.

SuperTeams at Portland...
|
Ran SuperTeams at Portland yesterday under perfect conditions - the weather was awesome. There was a light turnout, but had fun none the less.
 Bikes in the pits ready for morning practice.
 After the race, Todd and Tom enjoy a celebratory cool one.
 The whole crew, save Alan, at BJ's with the traditional BJ's pizzas and Jeremiah Red. Alan was in a hurry to go ride the St. Helen loop. I think I had more fun.

- 409 - Some Clowns Racing - 1st LW, 3rd Overall...
- 609 - Some More Clowns Racing - 3rd LW, 5th Overall...

Highway 112 dawn patrol...
|
A much needed dawn patrol, you know, to clear the head. Traffic pretty much cooperated in both directions and the weather was about the best it's been all year. While the asphalt is holding up pretty well, the ground continues to slide a bit each year. In some plaecs it's been patched, in other places, it feels a bit undermined with dips at the apexes - all a part of the character of this demanding sport ride staple.
 Gassed up and ready for the leg back...

WERA Weekend at Miller...
|
Almost 20 hours of driving straight through to get there in downpours, driving winds and lots of single-file construction, we arrived at around 8 AM on Thursday. Taking a different approach, Jimmie, Sharese and Alan rode out...through the same winds, rain and construction, plus some snow! They got in during the evening.
Set up the garage on Thursday, and last minute details on the bike. Put in some practice on Friday to try to learn the track, and then raced the 6 Hour on Saturday. Headed home midday on Sunday, and pulled in around 6 AM on Monday. Talk about a whirlwind trip!
I'll try to do a trip report over the next few days - there hundreds of pics to sort through, plus hours of video and a bunch of track photog pics. In the meantime, here is some high definition video of a couple laps:
For the record - 144 laps, 16th overall, 4th in class.

Busy month...first SuperTeams at PR
|
Andy, Todd and I ran SuperTeams at Pacific Raceway on May 8th. We ran as three teams, swapping bikes between us at the mandatory pit stop. Since we wanted to keep hours down on my bike for Miller, Scott let us use his as the 409 bike. I set my fastest time on it!

Results were:
- 209 - Todd/Tom - 5th place - Todd had to come in for adjustments - this day was his first time out for the season!
- 409 - Tom/Andy - 2nd place.
- 609 - Andy/Todd - 3rd place. Yes, Andy gets two trophies out of this!

April 14th 2-Fast...
|
Shaking the cobwebs out at the April 14th 2-Fast session... Andy and I took the Gixxer, the endurance bike, and Todd's bike out. The SV builds are pretty strong in the middle, and fun. I had the most fun on the Gixxer though - just went out and rode it! Also test rode an Aprilia RSV4!

Well, it's time...
|
Got the motor back, installed, took it Max RPM Motorsports for break-in and mapping. Got the bike back from that, and finished putting it back together. Installed and wired up the GPX Pro, and finished putting the plastic on. Put on fresh slicks.
It's time to twist the throttle in anger again, and drag a knee. It's time to smell the exhaust. It's time to go out and see what we can do, and then bench race about it afterwards. It's time to have fun.
Graham and I head out to a 2-Fast on Wednesday.

Motor is ready...

| The planning continues... The Friday preceeding the race is a Miller track day for race prepped bikes only for $150. Learned yesterday, the endurance bike engine is ready, will pick up on Saturday. Picked up Todd's last weekend. Also started the painting process - everything for everyone is primed - waiting for spring warmth to put on the color coats...

| The endurance motor cases are too worn for reliable reuse. Scotts motor had cracked cases... So went out on eBay and found a used '04 with 4K on it. Hopefully, that will do the trick.

The Oregon club dscided to give out awards fo rthe Endurance series, even though there was only one race. So officially for the 2009 Northwest Endurance Cup, Some Clowns Racing was 2nd overall, 1st Lightweight.
